The Senior Planner will be responsible for various components of the following: development of the Capital Budget and Capital Improvements Plan, boundary studies and other planning analyses, demographic analysis and enrollment projections, development of educational specifications, community meeting processes, and other related duties and responsibilities.  Performs complex assignments and exercises considerable independent judgment and initiative analyzing and using facilities and demographic data to develop strategies and plans for housing educational programs and accommodating changing enrollment patterns. Participates in county and city land use plans to ensure adequate school sites are available and the impact of increased residential development is communicated to county leaders. Tracks subdivision developments and building schedules to factor into enrollment forecasts for schools. Provides demographic information for special purposes, including student choice in the MCPS consortia and school boundary study processes. Participates in various planning processes including boundaries, roundtables, and program location studies. Work involves coordination with school system administration at all levels, including principals, department and office directors, and other MCPS units, as well as county and city planning offices and the housing development community. Participates in Board of Education and County Council meetings, and community meetings.
