POSITION SUMMARY

UrbanPlan is ULI’s experiential learning program that helps students, public officials, community members, and industry professionals better understand the forces that shape real estate development and urban growth.

ULI is seeking a Manager, UrbanPlan to support the administration, delivery, and growth of UrbanPlan programs across North America, with additional support for programs in Europe and Asia. This role works closely with ULI District Councils, ULI National staff, and teams across ULI Headquarters, including the ULI Impact Lab and ULI Foundation.

This position is based in Washington, DC and requires working from the ULI headquarters office four days per week (Monday–Thursday).

The ideal candidate will have 5–10 years of professional experience, strong communication and project management skills, and an interest in real estate, land use, urban planning, or community development. Experience with training, workshops, communications, or stakeholder engagement is preferred.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Program & Project Management

  • Serve as the primary liaison to 15–20 ULI District Councils participating in UrbanPlan.
  • Support UrbanPlan trainings and events virtually and in person across the Americas.
  • Assist with tracking program budgets and operational expenses.
  • Maintain and improve UrbanPlan management systems and program tracking tools.

Impact & Collaboration

  • Track participation and program impact data globally.
  • Partner with teams across the ULI Impact Lab to expand UrbanPlan’s reach and effectiveness.
  • Develop data-informed storytelling and reporting for donors, members, and stakeholders.

Marketing & Communications

  • Support and implement UrbanPlan marketing and communications strategies.
  • Manage newsletters, email campaigns, reports, website content, and social media channels.
  • Coordinate with ULI teams and District Councils to align messaging and branding.
  • Collaborate with Urban Land magazine and the ULI Foundation on program visibility and donor materials.
  • Measure and report on communications effectiveness.

Relationship Management

  • Build strong working relationships with ULI District Councils, National Councils, Headquarters staff, and external partners.
  • Support partnerships with organizations aligned with UrbanPlan’s mission and goals.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Experience & Education

  • 5–10 years of related professional experience, preferably in a nonprofit, membership organization, education, communications, or real estate-related environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; degrees in communications, marketing, business, urban planning, real estate, public administration, or related fields preferred.
  • Interest or experience in urban planning, real estate, land use, housing, sustainability, or placemaking preferred.
  • Experience with public speaking, workshops, volunteer engagement, or event coordination is a plus.

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and SharePoint.
  • Familiarity with project management, learning management, CRM, or communications platforms such as Smartsheet, Higher Logic, Thinkific, NetFORUM, Zoom, Slack, or similar systems is preferred.

WORKING CONDITIONS

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

The salary range for this position is $65,800–$71,500, depending on experience and qualifications.
